General Data Protection Regulation
There’s a new law that’s been hot on the lips of many big and small business owners recently, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It’s a law that will affect small and large businesses across the world.
What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into practice 25th May 2018 - it’s been described as ‘the most comprehensive data privacy law in the world’.
Businesses who collect data for EU citizens will need to comply with new regulations, regardless of whether the business itself is based in the EU or not. The GDPR will give more rights and control on their personal information. GDPR allows people/customers the right to:
-
Access the/their data stored by an organization
-
Request deletion of the/their data
-
Edit the/their data stored by an organization
-
Restrict the processing of the/their data
